Okinawa Water Park | 2021.10
Site Location:Okinawa city, Okinawa, Japan Building Use: Water Park Floor Area:
Water, the most familiar substance for living things, suroounds us in various forms. I thought it would be possible to show off the various aspects of water such as fog, clouds, rain, and flowing rivers. A wire frame roof made of PVC pipes, a common material, creates a place where you can experience natural phenomena by spraying water and making it rain. Around the large roof, both fog and rain create an ecosystem of moss and dragonflies, forming an opportunity for children to interact with nature. In the lighting plan, various shape of water can be used to create various effects such as a vague light or streaks of light. Based on the "connected graphics" of the photogenic tree master plan that expresses diversity, we will propose a diverse tree that condenses nature by combining it with Okinawa plants. We creatte a new environment while maintaining a relationship with the existing terrain, and propose a place where people can perceive it, adapt to it, and spend time in their own way. The tree that will let you feel the neture with all five senses. Water, mist, wind (scent),and light (illumination) are released intermittently. It is said that the sense of smell is the only one among the five sense that is transmitted directly to the brain. I was reminded of the fun events in the land of children by the scent I breathe in when I passed by. I wanted to create that kind of experience. It is a water facility where you can have a new experience every time you visit, depending on the time and season. The earth landscape and street furniture form an integrated structure. The design is reminiscent of Gusuku (castles or fortresses in the Ryukyu Island that feature stone walls) and ruins, and the atmosphere is a mixture of culture and nature. Various locations can be created depending on the size and shape, such as a bench or a small hill with a good view. It is also conceivable that some of the residual soil is discharged from surrounding projects could be disposed of when creating hills.
