EDOGAWA junior high school | 2021.07
Site Location: Edogawa, Tokyo,Japan Building Use:Junior high school
We will build a junior high school in this location, close to the Edogawa River, where people and information will naturally flow. The layout plan of the school building pays homage to a temple near the school name Zenyoji Temple, which is home to the natural monument ``Kagemukai Pine.'' The main classroom building containing regular classrooms that will be placed parallel to Zenyoji Temple. Similarly, the entrance is on the west side, which corresponds to the gate of the temple. Once you pass through the pilotis, you will be surrounded by green curtains on both sides, making it look like a path to a shrine. From there, each student will heads to their classrooms. Classrooms are gently divided into spaces using movable partitions and curtains, and the shape can be changed flexibly when necessary, allowing students to freely use the space for educational purpose. By arranging the ground, indoor sport field, and martial arts field in a three-dimensional manner and link them with outdoor corridor, we created a facility where people could gather freely. The library and computer room will be located on the north side of the site, along with biotope garden that used existing trees, and will function as a learning station.
