In Stella Shijo, we use a metaphor of Kyo-machiya, traditional facade on the arcade facing to Shijo Street. The client asked us to insert works which will attract people. Therefore, we created an architectural installation that remind people the city scenes they experienced in the past. Our work derived not directly from the its physical shapes but we extract the deeper meaning which created the unique Kyoto ambiances. Those are something we want to recreate through our works to preserve the Kyoto aura. A continuous line of steel flat bar from floor to ceiling create the abstract element of Kyo-machiya facade. The abstraction derived from the Kyoto people common sense on Kyo-machiya. The flat bars with certain curves will lining in the building frontage and creating an imaginative space with a meaning.
